Default Upgrades...

Are there any threads discussing upgrades?

I have never paid much attention to them but will be looking at a few next week and wanted to get some color, background, etc.

Thanks in advance.

Search Julia's completed auctions with the search term "del grego" "runge" or "upgrade".

You can also search the threads here under "Upgrades" and some will pop up. If you search under "Washburn" an upgrade that I posted on should pop up.

I’ll add Pachmayr to the list of names who did/do upgrades. Maybe someone will describe their work as customs rather than upgrades - nonetheless, they are striking.

I'd stop into Pachmayr's every so often back in the '70s when I was out in LA for work. They had some incredible "AAHEs" that started out as VHEs. Any Parker fan would be proud to own a Pachmayr upgrade!

Hello James , If you would like ,you could go to my Home Page and take a look at my DelGrego ,Runge BHE ,Engraved 410 Upgrade ! Or go to Guns International and take a look at her ! At the moment Chuck Brunner has it listed for me For Sale " Greene's Guns "! It is an absolutely Beautiful Upgrade and it is signed by Robert Runge in the Engraving that encompasses the bottom of the Receiver ! It is Initialed in the Stock Oval " WOO " ,this is one of the many of " Otis Odums " famous upgraded guns ! I took it up to Larry Del Grego to take a look at it and he wrote a short letter on it that it is in fact one of their guns ! I carry it once a year and hunt Preserve Pheasants with it , any time I mention this I get lectured on ethics but these little guns are sure fire killers on short pointed preserve birds and kill very humanely in this environment !

Just curious ...what is the background on the Otis Odum guns?

I’m sure it’s discussed in some other thread...

Otis Odom lived in Sycamore, Ga., and made a bunch of money growing turnips. He loved Parkers and fancied the Remington era guns. He didn't hunt or shoot, just collected. He also liked to upgrade them. He was very close with the Delgrego's. He also collected Dresden (sp?) china and taxidermy animals. Every other word out of his mouth had four letters and he had at one time one of the largest collections of Parkers in the country.
