I'm trying to be nice, but the last few years, No one was shooting Deep River on Thursday, most of the times it was not even setup for shooters until late Thursday afternoon. So that is how the Drakes Landing shoot started, to have a fun shoot before Deep River. Now ..... not sure why, how to say this, but now people want to split Drakes shoot, from the fun to something else, why....? And now to put a shoot in on Thursday, why, things were going fine ... Why does everything have to happen at Deep River, which is a very poor sporting clay course, the PGCA (I'll say this again) owes Bill nothing, between the LC members and Parker members we bring hundreds of people to his shoot.. Just think what would happen if we moved the challenge the same weekend to a better venue.... Ok off my soapbox last you will hear from me. Eric

Let's keep politics off this thread. Actually, Rick tells me he will be set up sometime Wednesday and there will be shooting on Thursday.

Ever since I started going to the Southern (first year was 2008) I have always arrived on Thursday. I try my best to be there no later than noon or 1 pm.
Every year the five stands were always up and running with lots of shooters participating on Thursday until closing time.

It is always a great time and lots of people there and a good social gathering after the shooting.

Obviously enough shooters do this to now necessitate Rick setting up on Wednesday.

All my best and safe travels to everyone.

Bottom line is this whole event at all the venues is the Woodstock of double gun enthusiasts. The number of shooters and shooting venues attests to this
