An eight gauge event at Ernie's is best shot on the "Mad Max" field. Long range, and it won't interrupt any other events. Just remember, Mad Max is not your friend.

I’m assuming you’re referring to Mad Jack held on the Skeet field? I still have a bad taste in my mouth yet, I didn’t make it around the field even once, my son had better luck, he came in second place behind Dave DeFernelmont in 2019. Stan Hoover |

Mad Jack targets are all released from the High House and pretty much travel straight away from station one. Once the first bird is hit, the shooter moves to station 2 (All stations are arranged in a semi-circle as in a skeet field) You keep shooting from each station until you hit the target, and then move to the next station etc. etc., until you have fired 25 shots. At that point the round is finished, and your score is whatever station your last hit was fired from. Hope this makes sense.

I’m not a skeet shooter by any means, but I’ll try to explain. All birds are thrown from the high house on the left and I want to say, the targets are angled to be more of a going away target than the normal crossing. Each shooter starts at station 1 and advances a station each time a target is broke, up through station 7 and then starts at station 1 again. The amount of stations you advance until you’re through 25 shells is your score. It gives some really long shots when you get to stations 4-7, it’s all about knowing lead, and according to the last winner, how much your shot is dropping. I think I made it to station 5 before , running out of shells, I think the 2019 winner had either 17 or 18 to win. Stan Hoover |

Just to maybe make it a little clearer, the machine is not in the high house but at the base of it. The bird is thrown approx 90 degrees from a real high house and you shoot from all 8 stations. Like said you shoot from each station until you hit it. It's quite hard from stations 4 thur 7.

I have not shot this one but I did watch a fellow shoot it the last time there. My recollection is that you start out in skeet mode and transition to FITASC. You're gonna need some choke. It appeared very challenging to me. I plan on trying it out this year.
