Default HAMPTON INN / THE SOUTHERN

I just got a call today from The Hampton Inn at Sanford, NC telling me that the room that I booked two months ago for The Southern which is less that ten days away had been cancelled (I was told that they had a "roof problem") After raising a little "hell" I was told that they would book me a room at a Comfort Suites nearby (which they did). I am wondering if anyone else here got "bumped" and if I got the straight story.

Best Regards, George

I just checked and my reservation was good.

That is just crappy on them canceling on you.

I stayed at comfort suits last year because the Hampton fillled up very fast and i dragged my feet on calling. It was a very Nice stay and price was comparable.

George, my friend, Comfort Suites is right across the street and a good place to stay. Linda and I stayed there a couple of times when our timing was off for the Hampton. Bill Murphy

Thanks Brian & Bill. I guess I just don't like to be "messed with". See you at The Southern.

Best Regards, George

The Quality Inn in Fuquay-Varina is a short drive and almost half the cost.

Interesting timing from my perspective on your post, George. My wife's mother, a terrific lady, just passed away after a number of years of suffering the infirmities of aging. She passed peacefully in her sleep at a rehab hospital in Bellingham, WA. While we all know that her pain is over, we will certainly miss her. She was the greatly-respected family matriarch of our large family, and did not suffer fools lightly. I loved her dearly.

However, that means that I am headed to the great state of Washington shortly, and - to my great dismay - will miss the Southern, as the funeral service is planned for next Friday, April 28. This was to be my first Southern, and I can't tell you all how much I was looking forward to meeting so many of you fellow Parker enthusiasts. Such is life at times, right?

My point is that I will have to cancel my reservation at the Hampton in Sanford. I did not get a phone call about the roof problem, so perhaps a quick phone call, George, and you could snag my room!

That also means that, unless we have a refund policy, the ticket that I have in my hand for the HOF dinner is going to go unused. If anyone is interested in it, send me a PM and we could figure something out.

I guess that I will plan to catch up with you all at a future event somewhere down the road.

All the best my friends. Enjoy the Southern!

Dave

They told me the same thing. I suspected they were overbooked and were moving people around town. I told the manager there better be a crew of roofers working on Friday or he was going to get a bucket of asswhup opened up.
