Default Hunting in OK

Having a great time hunting near the OK Panhandle for Bob White. It's rugged country and the temps are in the mid 70's. Russell Lindsay, Tom Wooden, Charlie Herzog and Bruce Day are providing plenty of material for an upcoming installment of the Parker Chronicles.

Can't wait!! Mike always does such a good job of describing what it is that we love about hunting with a double gun.....

Dog casualty for one of Charlie's setters. Lost a lot of blood so lots of red meat and water tonight and stay in the kennel for a few days. Then his second setter rolled in a dead porcupine and his third setter got stuck all along the side by a live, now dead, porcupine.

We surmise that Charlie's dog took a tree staub in the mouth. He runs hard with his mouth open and tongue hanging out. Had to be a heck of a hole.

Bruce, I am always apprehensive about porcupine encounters with Grace - they're all over the place where I hunt.
What was the nature of the injury with the setter in the picture?

Warm weather but the dogs found a way to cool off.

Looks like a great time. When we get the kids a little more settled, we want to travel to places like that for hunting

Mike Franzen and Tom Wooden.

Mike, Triple and Bert, all tuckered out after an 18 covey day. Note the absence of trees to spoil the view.

It was so stinkin cold and windy I was holding on to Tom to warm up. That bottom pic is me applying copious amounts of Charlie's famous Udder Cream to my hands. We walked 10 1/2 miles today chasing Bob White. This is a hunt I'll never forget. Me and the dogs are going to sleep well tonight.
