Default LATE XMAS PRESENT!

Well its not Xmas but to me it seems like it. Just received my new case for the "Mattie Gun" from Edgar Spencer, and I could not be more pleased! I sent Edgar the gun for proper fitting, "this needs to be done to get the proper fit. I rounded up all the accessories for the new case and sent them to Edgar he has a way with wood when it comes to making a case. I now have a fitting case for a gun that means a great deal to me! Thanks Edgar inclosed are 3 photos, Gary

Beautiful case! What a skilled craftsman you are, Edgar! A fitting presentation for a wonderful gun, Gary.

Well done, gentlemen.

Gary, Thank you for the kind words. If the truth were ever to come out, I probably could have finished this case in time for Christmas, but knowing how special it was for you, I spent a lot of time just staring at it, and trying to get the details right.
For those of you who have seen this gun first hand, you will know what I mean; the rest will have to take my word for it; The wood work that went into the stock and fore end, and most especially the checkering, is so beautiful. Kudos to Chris Dawe for such an incredible job.
I noticed, as you all have also, that there are two marks on the inner lid, to the right of the trade label. They are not really there, but are the reflection of the flash off the tops of the gold snap caps.

A wonderful gun Gary! Now you'll have to tell us who did the engraving and the color case hardening and the barrel blue.

Beautiful work Chris and Edgar!

Wouldn't it be nice to know the names of all the craftsmen who created all our old Parkers?

Default Xmas

Dean, Brian Frink did the engraving and gold inlays, Oskar Kob did the color case hardening all these gentlemen are in Canada, Chris did more than just stock work the gun was originally a 0 grade 16 gauge with twist barrels, I sent a set of Vulcan hammerless barrels 16 gauge to chris and he took the time to put the correct check hooks on those hammerless barrels. I left the serial number on the barrels and gun, I also ask that the rib be taken down to smooth with 2 ivory beads and wedges engraved on the barrels, gary

I must say that most people would not have tackled such a job, I was originally going to have the metal done in French Grey but on advice of Mr Kob we chose color case hardening to bring the gold inlays out more. The gun was made exactly as I wanted it, to suit me! thanks again for all these mens great work, I wonder if they would do it all over again? hmmm. Gary
