I'm convinced it's not magic, it's truly patience and a desire. I'm really amazed by a bamboo fly rod when you think of those six pieces of cane glued together and whipped back and forth over and over again and the stress placed on the rod when fighting a fish. Even the tips are six strips glued together. It's pretty amazing stuff considering bamboo is actually a grass. Jerry

John, I figured Mr. Keane would be about 100 years old by now and long dead, but some of our heroes of the sixties were younger than we thought. I never met Martin Keane, but corresponed with him about shotguns he had for sale and enjoyed his catalogs of fly fishing gear up to recent times. Unfortunately, I didn't know what I was looking at. One gun I remember him offering for sale was a high condition DHE 16 bird gun for about $650. I guess I should have bought it. It seemed a bit overpriced at the time.

Bill - Did some checking with a friend who is more knowledgeable than me about fly fishing collectibles. He guesses that Marty died about two years ago
