David, I was wondering about the lack of colors, and one possibility is that it was French Grayed, as opposed to displaying the colors from hardening.

I can't recall ever seeing a Parker originally finished in French Gray.

Generally speaking, the greater the degree of engraving, the less visible case colors are. |

That's just an example of "A little bit of knowledge can be a dangerous thing."
"Hard rubber" (gutta percha) is correct but "brass" is not. . .
