Default grandson's bird

My 15 year old grandson Zach and I went on his finial youth turkey hunt this AM, Birds were silent on the roost before sun up, We set up and found out too close to the roost and they flew down away from us and gobbled off away from us. Went to another spot found another bird but he was hung up with hens. off to find more birds. stop at a old reclaimed sand pit. I call once and a gobble at 400 yds across the pit. He came running only stopped to gobble , up the side of the steep bank into some thick pines a jake came in silent at 10 yds but saw us. tom still coming ,than at 15 yds he was there, Zach moved my Ithaca NID 10 ga to the left a little and shot with 1 1/2 oz 6's Down he went. The bird tumbled all the way to the bottom of the hill. It has 1 inch spurs, 10 1/4 inch beard at 22 lbs. I know it was not a parker my parker was too heavy to carry, next time.

So much better than doing it yourself. Congratulations to Zack and you.

My favorite thing to do is to call in a good bird for my grandson. Next time I've gotta make sure he's awake when the bird comes in.

No, No mount, but you are wright about tight patterns , he would have shot the PH 10 ga but at 9 1/2 lbs just to much gun to hold at ready for to long. When I can;t hold it any more than he can take it over. I hope it's not too soon
