I had a TA hammer gun for awhile that had some "homemade checkering" it was slightly better than this example. I thought I could live with it but couldn't. It was one of the many lessons I learned in my early years of Parker collecting.

Looks like the infamous "carp" pattern, rarely seen. On a serious note, that looks like a later model lifter with the radius at the breech face. Might be worth restoring if the cut barrels were decent and the price was down below $500. Probably won't happen.
