Default case color

Whats the best way to preserve the case colors on your Parker shotgun? I know that keeping the gun in the dark and not exposing it to light is probably the best way but are there some other ways as well to keeping the case in tact?

Connecticut Shotgun sells a "Case color" protection kit which includes a lacquor that supposedly helps. I have no idea if it works or not.

Just a word of warning: I used the Galazan product on a gun and it imparted a translucent, yellowish tinge to the colors.

The galazan case color protectant is basically shellac.

Anything that you put on the frame will effect the look of the case colors. Be it glossy, or matte, it will change the look.

I am in the keep oil on it and leave it be camp.

I'm in that camp now, and fortunately used the Galazan treatment on an AyA of mine and not one of my more collectable guns. Live and learn...
