If a high grade gun has records that say mod/full, and it is high condition, then i would think it would be an issue for most if the gun was altered to be choked otherwise.

The problem is the records are not always accurate. Scott Kittredge had a 20ga VH, the letter said it had open chokes or an open choke in one barrel, cylinder in one barrel if I remember correctly. It was the tightest full/full gun you could have. That kind of choke was not put back into it. So I am sure there are other guns whose original chokes don't match the letter.
