Default What is this pin for?

I posted this on double gunshop but was wondering if I got more answers here.

Should this pin be stiff?

Curious what this pin is? Sticking out of hinge area?

I find it tough to push the forend on against it and rotate up to the catch just wondering what it is?

Thank you!

That is the unhooking slide pin.

It is what “tells” the gun if the forend is on the gun or not. Thus allowing the barrels to unhook from the frame when taking it down.

It is under spring pressure and should be firm feeling to push back with your finger. But it will push back. When installing the forend, it should not cause much noticeable resistance.
