Default Quick Help...

Sorry for any intrusion but I'm looking for help. Have an opp to acquire a Parker #146xxx, vulcan steel, extractors, frame 2, case color 5%, blue 60%, Furniture 75%. Gun is tight and still usable. Prob is grade. Stamp says AF3 I cannot find any correlation to this code. Before I lay out $1000 I would like to know. Any help out there? Thanks Mike

And oh... If you post the exact serial number, I'll see if it's listed in the serialization book for you..

The grade would be stamped on the flat of the action, where the barrel flat and the action flat meet. The grade would be adjacent to the serial number. The number and letters you mention may be Remington repair codes which are normally stamped on the underside of the barrels on the flat.

Thanks to everyone for your help. Ser#is 146746 and is stamped on the side of the lug, the code AF3 is on the water-----? just below the serial #. So the serial is not on the flat surface wheras the code is and proximity is ver close with the ser just above the code.

Bill or John if you are there the grade is V I have no idea what that means, also does the the return to
rem for work (AF3 code) degradate the value. I'm still trying to decide if I get this piece. If I do I will join your group. Thanks again Mike

Mike,

146746 is listed in the "Book" as a VH with 30" barrels and capped pistol grip. This is an early 1908 Parker "0" grade. If as you described I would think you are getting a good deal for $1,000.00.

Hi Mike!

First - thanks Harry for looking that up!

As well, Mike - I agree with Harry... If it's the configuration Harry listed - snap it up.. It sounds like a terrific opportunity as long as there are no huge issues with it? And for the money we saved you, please do consider becoming a PGCA Member? I mean really - where else can you kick back and enjoy the "fellowship" of folks just like you - addicted to these wonderful old guns?
