Default DHE roll replacement

well I had a fun Day changing out a roll pin. here is how i did it. it was actually pretty enjoyable. 1 remove the roll screw. use a hollow ground bit that's the full of the screw head.2 tap out the roll pin using a brass hammer and a punch that's the full of the screw hole. 3 mark the front of the pin before complete removal of the pin with a scribe so you can realline the screw head. then completely remove the pin. 4 make a jig out of a nice dense hardwood like oak or ash that can take a little abuse without cracking to pieces. i made this 2"x2" and long enough to grab the end in a solid vice.

I made the groves in the jig with a router shaped for the front of the receiver to fit into.6 i cut down the jaw of a c clamp to fit in the receiver groove, #7 hold the receiver to the jig, place the ground down c clamp behind the roll and press it out taking care to keep the guide palls on the side of the roll coming out aligned through the groove. clean everything up and put the replacement in , or build up the old part and machine it back down.

Thanks. I don't have a Princess Auto in this area but I'll check other auto supply stores.

It actually fit great. It was newer and the extra metal from the non worn out replacement made the gun work perfectly.

Buddy, Princess Auto is a Canadian company and these vice jaw pads are their house brand Power Fist. They come in two sizes with magnets to hold them in place. If you google 6 1/4 inch regular magnetic vice jaw pads you'll see several U.S. manufacturers of similar products. The Drillpro ones from Banggood.com look about the closest to the ones we have in Canada.
