Default 1 1/2 and 2 frame barrel set

This listing for a VH has two barrel sets, obviously not matched to the gun, but are 1 1/2 (original) and 2 frame size. https://www.gunbroker.com/item/826869065

I didn't think you could get the two to interchange with the different frame size.

The “2” stamp on the rear lug of the second set of barrels sure looks like a different font style to me than the other set.

Yes, that 2 stamp is NOT original or correct. Besides, IF that set was 2 frame, they would not function properly on a 1-1/2 frame gun.

The gun is likely a 1-1/2 frame and so are those barrels. Maybe the stamping was very light or wiped out and for some reason a 2 got put on it. Maybe for 2nd set of barrels? Who knows.

As a sidebar. The gun is also a later factory restock. Done in the remington era. So, the gun has good solid wood on it.

A 1 1/2 frame and a 2 frame both have 1 1/8 inch firing pin spacing.

It appears to me that the barrels with the 2 on the lug are the original barrels for the gun. There is a Remington repair code stamped on the left barrel flat to the right of the oval with the JG. Looks like BJ3 (January 1940) but the photo pixilates badly when enlarged.

The barrels with the 1 1/2 on the lug appear to be late Remington barrels and the forearm is wider at the tip in the late style. These barrels probably added by Remington at the time of the restock. They also appear to have the BJ3 repair code.

Too bad the seller doesn't give us a few more pictures like the inside of the forearms and the forearm loop on the barrels and the serial number on the side of the barrel lug on the earlier barrels.

But, the height of the standing breech are different from 1-1/2 to 2 frame.
