Default Cant find Goex locally....

I have four Damascus barrel 12ga shotguns, and started out hand loading paper hulls with 60grains of 2f Goex, and 1oz of 7 1/2 shot. These guns all handled these loads fine, but now my local dealer doesn't carry Goex anymore. Any recommendations for a different black powder would be appreciated. Thank You in advance.

You don't have to shoot BP - low pressure nitro loads are safe and work just fine. If you want BP, try http://www.grafs.com/ - they have BP under their name that works just fine. I know there's a haz mat fee- but if you order 20 lbs or so at once it isn't too bad. Good luck - Paul

or the Maine powder house

http://mainepowderhouse.com/

and yes- there are low pressure smokeless loads that will work assuming the barrels are in safe condition

Personally, I believe if the barrels are safe enough to shoot BP then they're safe enough to shoot low pressure nitro loads. The barrels don't know what type of powder you're using, only the pressures. But maybe John just likes shooting smoke, which is fine.

Thanks guys, and yes, the smoke and fire are a big part of the pleasure I find in shooting black powder. In fact, my Grandson and I have nicknamed my Neumann Brothers and my American Gun Company doubles "Thunder and Lightning!"

Active group of single shot rifle shooters that use BP in Mass. Will ask but I bet they buy from Maine Powder House.

My Parker lifter use bulk re-enactor grade 2 F from Winchester VA cost less than pound cans of Goex (he sells Goex too) and does fine . It's not labeled but most say it's Goex re-packaged from kegs. 200 mile drive for me I stock up every couple of years.

If you have any re-enactors or members of NSSA nearby they will have a source for sure
