Default Interesting PR

http://www.rogerbain.com/product/par...he-28-ga-2443/

Did I read somewhere that some DHE's were "upgraded" at some point in the past?

Yes, a couple of PGCA members had this or similar enhancements done to their Repro's.
I know at least one of them had contracted Bachelder's to do his. Mullered borders - oil-finished stock and forend, bone-charcoal case colors, etc.

Yep Scot, you may have read it here as we've discussed them before on this forum. Although Bachelder and others tweaked standard Repros, I believe it was Greene's Guns that did a little more upgrading to standard D-Grade Repros that included bone charcoal case coloring, removing the Parker Reproduction and Made in Japan stampings, re-bluing the barrels, changing the splinter forend shape, adding mullered borders to the checkering, changing the game scene engravings, hand chasing the scroll engraving and applying an oil finish. Pistol-gripped guns were changed to a half pistol grip (round knob).

As always..thank you for the insight gentlemen.

Hard to see from the pics how well executed the engraving is but my guess is that it is done well by the looks of the overall build, furniture looks very good.

Would love to see more of these upgrades w/good pics.

Where in the Roger Bain description does it say that this gun was enhanced?

Is there any doubt?

If "enhanced" means mullered checkering borders, oil finished wood, hand engraved (chased) and case colors redone with re-blued action bottom screws, then yes, it was "enhanced" as Greg said. I don't much like the incorrect trade label in the case though. After all, it's not a "Parker Brothers" shotgun.

I have a very nice 12GA 2 barrel set that Mr. Bachelder did. It has beautiful case coloring, mullered borders, tru-oil finish, single trigger adjusted for great trigger pulls, and the trigger gold plated. It has 26" Q1 & Q2 chokes on the 26" barrels and IC and Mod on the 28" barrels which I think is a great combination.

I don't think the choke combination you have in your 2bbl 12 ga set is a great combination - I think it is the perfect combination!

Sounds like a nice gun - how about some pics
