Are the barrels interchangeable between the regular model 11 and the Sportsman version ?

Craig,

I believe they are but I am no Sportsmen expert.

Be careful with low serial number barrels as they we mostly fitted at the factory.

I don't believe you can go wrong with one of the later barrels that has the milling on the grey extension to save weight.

I have a 20 gauge Sportsman and bought a 20 gauge 11 last night. When the one I bought last night arrives I’ll see if the barrels interchange .

Craig: I may be wrong here but, I think the barrel loop that fits over the mag tube is in a different location. I am interested to see what you find out.

The Model 11 20 gauge arrived today . I’m going to take the Sportsman in tommorrow and see if the barrels swap . The new one needs a new spring something to do with the trigger assembly and it’s already ordered from Numrich . Other than this spring deal the gun looks in very decent to good shape .

Thanks ! Dave do you have a list of Model 11 serial numbers by year ? I’d like to date this one snd the 16 I have . I assume the 16 is newer as it has the roll stamp like a Sportsman .

The old factory ledger states that receiver was put in work, along with about 7200 others, between May 3, and June 14, 1930. The code on the barrel PY P = June and Y = 1930.

Here are both sides the barrel on the model 11 16 . I don’t think they have the letters .

My latest Remington Auto Shotgun Tournament grade 12ga 28" plain barrel Circa 1910. The chip in the butt plate is repaired.
