Default Parker Repro 28 ga on Guns International

I'm just curious. There's a 28 ga Repro on Guns International #101798495 listed for $5,900. Seems low to me. The listing says it was made for The Grand National Quail Club 25th anniversary - Silver edition. The seller is Champlin.

Could it be that due to the Quail club engraving on the barrel that has this posted for only $5,900? I would not think that the 26 inch barrels are that big of a drawback although I would think that 28 inch barrels would be more desirable.
Any thoughts?

I have noted that traditionally guns that are limited editions such as this, and things like NWTF, RGA...etc demand less money. Look at all the Browning A5's and so forth that are promotional items like this, new in box, and they just don't command the money.

But why don't they command the money? Is it because of the commerative engraving?

I'd buy this Repro in a heartbeat if it had 28 inch barrels. But not 26 inch barrels.

I don't think the gun is priced too low. Jaqua's has a 28 ga 26" ST listed for $5250.

No idea why that's the case. But I see it all the time and a friend owned a somewhat higher end firearms dealership for years and the Ducks Unlimited A5's and Pheasants Forever Browning's barely sold for what regular retail did, and never for more. MY personal hunch is that it's not a factory authorized change to the gun, but an aftermarket "badge" for promotional purposes. There is a lot out there about this, ie discussion:

Unless you are/were a member of the Grand National Quail Club the extra engraving on the barrel may add a little value; for non-members it could very well be detrimental to value.

We discussed this very listing several weeks ago here:

P.S. Don't sell the 26" Repros short, twenty-eight inchers are over-hyped.

I think the barrel engraving hurts the value. I think what they are asking for it is probably 500 bucks too high just because of that engraving. PS. If it had double triggers it would sell for the asking price in a nano-second IMO.

We not to long ago had a DHE 28 gauge 2 barrel gun at the shop and sold it for less than 6K . Gun was straight grip and single trigger . I was tempted and if it had double triggers I'd have taken the leap .

I could be quite wrong , but it's been my observation that any of the DU , RGS , QU or any sort of special edition stuff is fine .

BUT if you bought it to speculate 9 times out of 10 shooting it and making it no longer NIB hurts the market value .

Now that hinges on another point if you're not into whatever organization it was designated the market also decreases drastically .

Hence I've pretty much steered clear of all that type of stuff .
