Default Just Wanted Cry

Dear friend has looked for a Dixon round action 12 gauge for several years. Last year he located and purchased "his gun" with a broken stock. Several months later he selected a beautiful piece of wood and shipped the gun to a English trained gunsmith and "waited". The finished gun returned in time for this falls bird season and what a beautiful firearm!!!!!

However 10 shots with RST Lites the stock develops a cracks!!! Crack starts right behind upper tang and runs about 4 inches towards the checkered butt.

I just wanted to cry with one of my best friends.

Gun is off to the English Gunsmith looking for solutions.

PS: As we get "older" losing a hunting season with your "Gun" makes me think/wonder how many more am I going to enjoy.

I sympathize with your friend, George. I have to remind myself occasionally that this is the price we pay for loving/using these old warriors of the field. A new Beretta s/a would serve us faithfully without ever developing a crack, a weak toplever spring, of any other one of the myriad problems associated with our old guns. But, at what cost?

I tell myself that most of my hunting friends and buddies are happy as a pig in the sunshine with automatics or pumps. But then I realize I once was, too..........and, I can never go back. So it is.

So true, so true. Plan for future hunts, but treat all of your chances to go as if they were your last.

Cracks can be glued and repaired.. Let’s hope that is the case for your friend. Dewy V. repaired one for me that I thought was good for nothing but kindling. Had no problems since.
