They're basically all red phase birds in the NC mountains. I had always heard that they're mostly red in the mild climate areas of their range. I only see grey phase birds on my trips up North.

This young tom, Jack the Jake, sits right above my reloading bench in my garage. Every now and then when I am hand loading each turkey load and while I am looking away measuring the powder he poops into the hulls, giving me misfires when I try to kill his relatives. (He was a gift from kids throwing away their father's mounts.)
