Default Ammo shortage

Was at our local Sportsman’s Warehouse looking for shotgun target Ammo. Virtually all Ammo was gone from the shelves. Unbelievable...! I’ve read this is now common in many states. Wonder if other members have experienced this recently? I’m sure people now horde Ammo due to this and outlets have none.

My local sporting clays range will sell you five boxes for each 100 bird round. No more.

Good enough.

My range in SW Florida is out - holding some shells for a tournament in a week or so. They have been promised some shells this week

Our local WalMart got in about 50 of those four packs 12g target loads last Thursday. I don't know the brand, guys at the range were talking about it while we shot pistols and it was gone by the end of the day. It was $22 for 100 rounds, limit was one 4 pack each. They said they had them the week before too.

Looked at Walmart today and about 6 boxes of Remington STS 1 1/8-7 1/2 target loads. I cringed at paying $7.87 for what I can load but think I will go back and get them tomorrow. Collectors items.

I heard someone ask a National Champion Sporting Clays Champ what he thought of premium loads like STS or AA versus lower priced shells like Game Clubs. His response "I'm not a good enough shot to see a difference"

Many of you aren't going to like what I have to say about this ammo mess, but here goes.

Out of panic & fear of the unknown. We shooter's & hunters have created this shortage ourselves!! The only thing different from this & the toilet paper shortages of last spring is the product.

The only way we have any possibility of correcting this situation is when enough of us quit cruising both the internet & retail outlets trying to snatch-up every crumb of ammunition or reloading supplies we might stumble onto!

This is just a good example of where demand out strips the supply chain. Overall it's pretty straight forward; Quit buying-So the supply chain can catch up!!

POGO: ( I have seen the enemy & He is us )

This is putting it pretty bluntly, but it's the way I see things at this point.

well said Paul

about what I said on a similar thread on the topic a couple months ago

stop rewarding the greedy resellers - let them sit on over priced inventory and let the ammo factories catch up

I know in some sense its "free enterprise", but that has two sides as well.
