Do one click on the pictures and you will see the quality of the carving.

Not a Parker .
Documented 16 gauge Merkel carved in 1941 by Paul Karl Merkel. He would have been in his 80’s and may be the last gun he carved. Tastefully done in my opinion.
Wish I knew who commissioned this gun.

Put me in the negative too.

Steel is a canvas, man made and is ripe for adornment.

Wood was alive, no two pieces are ever the same. Almost like it has a soul.

I do love when carving is skillfully executed and mixed with checkering. This merkel is knockout!

Thanks Dean and Brian. I picked this Merkel up about a year and a half ago. I was able to get the build records from Merkel. Very well documented records showing the names of every craftsman that built this shotgun. Underlined in red was Paul Merkel as the stock carver. Last of the 3 founding brothers.

My ex brother in law now deceased could have done either of those. He was that good. He never did gun stocks to my knowledge.

I am a woodworker and a boat builder and not a wood carver. Gunstocks or not, I will tell you those 2 people are GOOD!!!

Have you guys ever noticed that you regulars are the ones that do all the posting. If someone else posts something it gets bad mouthed and reticule. It’s like saying someone’s wife is ugly or kicking someone else’s dog.

One guy in a two page post makes a single negative comment and suddenly, we're all assholes. Accused of being assholes by a spelling impaired poster with 35 posts. Those who do all the posting here are the "workers". Get a life. Sorry, Ed, but I have nothing to lose here by implying that you are wrong. I can say anything I want, but I will delete this post after you have read it.
