Default DuBray Heads South for Snipe

http://www.la84foundation.org/Sports.../SL3626014.pdf
W. Du Bray, of Parker Bros., has been working through the South in the interest of the Parker gun. Writing from Beaumont, Texas to a friend in this city, he relates some of the pleasures of snipe shooting with his friend John W. Phillips, of New Orleans. They gunned three days and bagged 240 snipe. The birds were wild and a strong wind prevailed on the second and third days.
Mr. Phillips used a Parker 16-gauge, 2 3/4 drams Du Pout powder, 1 oz. No. 9 shot in Leader factory loaded shells. Mr. Du Bray used a 20-gauge Parker, 2 3/4 drams Du Pont, 7/8 oz. No. 8 and 9 shot, in 3-inch Leader shells. Many long shots were made with these little weapons and it was the gunner's fault whenever a fair shot was missed.

I enjoyed reading about the four man match shoot at Pottsville, PA. Each shooter shot at eight birds. All but one shooter missed every bird he shot at, and one shooter killed two.

Those boys must have been fine shots, snipe are as tough a bird to kill on the wing as anything I've fired a gun at.
