Default Introducing Kyra

Kyra is a five year old rescued miniature American Eskimo. She is a lap dog destined to be a hunting partner for "Charlie". She had one day in the field prior to the pheasant season ending and she got right into the game, flushing a couple hens. This is an unusual breed for hunting; however, I had great success with "Foxy" for many seasons.

Jack, Some 55 years ago my brother, Jim, and I would hunt pheasants in central MI with our family dog, Tassie, an Elk Hound. We'd try to push her into a bean field, but she wouldn't go; just work the down wind side of the field till she smelled something good, the go in and flush the bird. We did ok on those wild MI fezzies in those days; Jim with Dad's Mod. 11 and me with his Nitro.

Thanks Charlie and Fred: I'm a firm believer that any dog can become a hunter; afterall, they are predators by nature. I grew up with labs, "Snippy" and "Major". Then, as young adults, my wife and I had two Shelties, "Dusk" and "Dawn". They had some time chasing pheasants rather than herding sheep. They passed in '88. Next was our first mini American Eskimo, "Foxy" followed quickly with a GSP, "Taz". They became a great tag team in the field with many memorable hunts. They passed in '07 and '08. Now we have a "siberador" or maybe a "laberian" (labxhusky) "Charlie" and another Eskie, "Kyra" They may be our last hunting dogs, depending on how rickety I become as we age together.
Cheers,
Jack

Rickety's no excuse... Suponski is rickety and he still tramps the hills and hollows. I've come to simply ignore his complaints of "pain".

Okay, no more talk of rickety. Will just steer clear of badger holes and wander the upland world as long as allowed. Cheers, Jack
