Default Grouse Country

I am not sure if this is the site or it should be on "OFF TOPIC ".

But here goes .
A must read is about our former President Art Wheaton's experiences with the Old Pat Society gunning after partridge and woodcock in the United States and New Brunswick. The book is an easy read, written in simple English, with advise from 50 plus years of gunning and the stories that go with it.

The book is offered thru The Double Gun Journal , Daniel and Joanna Cote'.

Enjoy
Allan

Yup, I got my copy straight outta Forest City, Maine and dove right into it as soon as I could find time to sit down.

A very nice read with a lot of Old Pat's Society history and shenanigans too.
And Art writes about other experiences as well, not just the Old Pat's stuff. He writes about the hunts, the people (you'll recognize some of the names) the guns (mostly Parkers) the pranks, the memories, and some special nostalgia too. I'm glad I got the book - it's a keeper and it will stay in my library (except when I loan it to my grandson.)

I picked up my copy while in Forest City last month and have thoroughly enjoyed it. At some point we will all have more hunts behind us than in front of us and while reading the stories of Art's 50+ years of hunting with good friends it made me stop and reflect on many of the great times I've had outdoors with family and friends. I'm very glad that Art took the time to put this book together and shared with us many of his special memories of friends and the outdoors.

I understand that Art knew my Dad thru Remington. Hope I have the chance to meet him.

Got my copy just before Thanksgiving and read it over the weekend. Lots of fun stories, and many that bring back old memories. Good read.

Some more specifics on how to acquire a copy would be appreciated. I don't find a way through the double gun journal web site and while a drive to Forest City would be fun, I am unlikely to do it anytime soon.

Why would one drive to Forest City rather than order online? What is there?

Send Art a private pm and he will ship it out to you. No you don't have to drive and right now I think Art is now in NC.
