Default Take a kid hunting

I grew up in Pennsylvania and have continued to return there to hunt with family. I guess because I buy my PA license on the net, I was added to their emailing list. From time to time I get some interesting email from them, I got one today which prompted this post.

I particularly like this one. I only wish all states would take notice and do something similar. When/if you have the opportunity to talk to a member of your states Fish & Game (or whoever could champion something similar), if they don't already have a youth program, pass this idea on to them.

My grandson Cam will be hunting turkeys with me again this spring and his kid suster wants to tag along with Cam & me in grouse season this coming October. It is richly rewarding to all involved.

My daughter (5) still struggles with being still and quiet enough for turkeys, but I’ve promised to take her dove hunting this fall. We’ve picked her up a camo hat and shirt, not that either are necessary, but like any little girl she likes the accessories. She also got a small pink and purple Swiss Army knife in her Easter basket which set off an arms race amongst our friends and really made all of the moms quite angry with me. Dove hunting will also let me take a cooler full of lemonade and snacks to keep her happy.

My brother and my niece went turkey hunting and almost got one. My niece held the turkey tail feathers while my brother aimed and that helped bring the turkey in while also relieving my niece from having to be still
