Default Pre 1913 L C Smith question

Will the lock plate parts for a pre 1913 12 gauge interchange with a 16 gauge?

Tom,

There are two different frame sizes: An R or regular and a FW or feather weight frame. Look at the LC Collectors web site. They have reproduced drawings with measurements. You may also want to post this question on the LC forum.

good luck,

John

I just checked the plans a specifications book. According to that, it appears as if the only difference between the lock parts are Regular Frame VS. Featherweight frame. The parts within each type are the same regardless of gauge.

What Brian said.
Featherweight frame lockplate top (introduced in 1907 for the 20g; 16s could have either frame for some time thereafter) with the extra screw. Regular frame bottom, with the rounded upper corner.
It would probably help the fitting if you can purchase a lock produced near your gun's DOM
