10 gauge Hammer Gun

Good evening,
I think I may have a Parker "Frankenstein". The Water Table is marked with the serial number 21746 as well as the Forearm. no grade marked on watertable.
The Barrel is stamped with a 12372 ,looks like a serial number also with, T ALE 5 13 . The Barrel lug is stamped 3. Twist Steel.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated!!

Take a look for a stamp on the side of the barrel lug. If there, that would be the serial # of the barrels. The 12372 on the barrel flats is likely an order #. Maybe it is not a frankengun.

yes same serial number on side of the barrel lug as water table. I will be sending all info to PGCA for research letter.

Eric, is right 1881 0 grade 32" barrels. Enjoy it, guns in that number rage seem to fit and shoot better than the others at least for me.

What is the best load to use with this gun? I know modern ammo is out of the question.

The T with the crescents above and below it is the designation stamp for Twist Steel barrels. The 5 and superscript 13 is the weight of the barrels prior to striking... 5 lb., 13 oz.

I've never seen the A L E before and have no idea what it means.

I had the same thing happen to me , I purchased the gun paying for a non matching # parts gun , and after owning the gun for over 5 years found under much rust the matching serial # on the barrel right where it belonged , under much rust!

With any old gun make sure that it is safe before you use it. When in doubt contact a qualified SXS gunsmith to inspect it. As for ammo for an old 10, RST makes 10 gauge shells that are suitable. Ballistic Products has several loads listed in their manual that i use. A 10 is fun to shoot!
