John, I am not computer literate, but all I do now is go to Attach Files click on it go to my photo file click on it open it and attach not sure but isn't that about the same as clicking to open a file clicking to drag a file.... sorry seems about the same to me... but then again I am a computer illiterate, so what do I know....If I could post from my Iphone to the forum then I'm in, John D care to take care of that.............................

I have some computer background and I can tell you that a change on how the site would interface to pictures is probably not a trivial change. To change the software programming to do what you ask would probably take a couple of software engineers weeks (likely more) to implement & test.

The software that runs this site is commercial (see copyright at the bottom of this page) and I doubt that the John has access to the computer program code to even begin to make changes to the interface.

Most of us baby boomers are not computer literate. I like it that way. I still use, and will always use , a flip phone. Like Eric said if COB (Rich) can post then anyone one can do it. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

It's not broken and this isn't the government so don't try to fix something that doesn't need fixing

I think our system of posting pictures here is quite simple enough.

I have visited other forums where you can't enlarge posted pictures like we can here with a click or two.

I hope John Nagel dosen't think we were scoffing at his suggestion, I think his suggestion, if implemented, would add another way to upload pictures but as Robin suggested, it may not be doable due to programming issues. Perhaps John Dunkle will read this and chime in. Anyway, thanks John for your suggestion.

I know I asked John a few years ago if he could change the way you search for a member on the "Members List". Currently you have to search by first name. I thought it would be better to search by last name first, you wouldn't get as many hits like you would if you searched John or Bill, etc. Anyway, John explained that it would take to much reprogramming to do that. I defer to his expertise!

Yes, that is correct. The PGCA BOD requires a true "FIRST NAME and LAST NAME" to the the conjoined "User Name". What MySQL sees is the first letter of the database field - which hold the first letter of the first name, which is what all "Member Search" look-up's depend on. If I concatenate the First and Last name - that doesn't work, as folks also register the REAL FIRST and LAST NAME with a middle initial, or a middle initial with a ".", or a surname - Jr., Sr, III, well - then it breaks.

With me so far?

Great...

Image uploads... Sure - BUT the forum in question uses PhpBB - not vB. The core code on this site is wildly hacked (Sorry Robin - it is NOT "off the shelf") to do uploads the way we do. Could I do "Drag & Drop"? Maybe - but - then I hack and whack more code, and at the end of the day - it will probably break what I've already "whacked" in PHP code.

And - in fact - there is a bigger hurdle in my sights.. That is that PayPal (which many of you use for your Memberships/Renewals/Letters) - may indeed require an SSL/TLS Signed Certificate to complete the transaction - which will require a whole damned lot more programming.

Remember - I don't get paid for any of my time, just my server connection costs - so, we'll see where this lands.

Thanks John - Please know that your work is deeply appreciated and your decisions are respected and supported.

I once knew a nuclear physicist who worked high up in the Nuclear Regulatory Commission safeguarding how things were done. It was incredibly stressful for him and he hated his job.

I once asked him why he was still there - why he didn't resign... He told me "Because I don't think I can trust anyone else to act as responsibly in doing this as I do."

Nailed it - and too, back at you Dean... I know you feel the same way about Parker Pages - which you've brought so far under your care and vision and work... Just know it's equally as appreciated from me - and all of us... So simply;

My thanks..
