I can understand a bit of ire over this situation at Hodgdon and other powder manufacturers. However, if you go to the Hodgdon website, and click on the bright yellow box relating to "Why Can't I Find Hodgdon Powders?," you will get this enlightening info:

Info I posted on another thread here, on 8/15/2014. This came from a personal source "in the industry".
For those who like Hodgdon Clays, International and Universal - the Australian company that produced these powders for Hodgdon is now reporting that the "production issue" of last year was resolved but then a "burn event" occurred in the dryer part of its process when it was brought back on line earlier this year. Net, latest word is their shotgun powders will not be available until late this year, and then the company will have to work through the order backlog. I don't use any of these powders myself but I thought I'd pass the word. It sounds like those who do might not see any on the shelves until next year. |

powder shortage
It is very curious that their official response on their newsletter blames the shortage on a much greater demand. Another source from Hogdon told me that the shortage was due to the dryer room burn at the plant in Australia. Come on Man...get your story consistent whether its true or not.

Alliant had been showing up on local shelves. Clay Dot Promo Red Dot.
Think I mentioned in another post blundered into 4 one lb jugs and 1 x 8 lb jug of Titewad which has my 12 G requirement covered for a long time. All recent dates. I guess Hodgens Titewad is domestic production. If I can lay in some powder for my new 10 G Parker will be set. Not sure what it ought to be, Been looking at the loading short 10 post figure out options. Thinking Unique. William |

William, I have been shooting 1&1/8 oz 8's with 29 gr SR 7625 for sometime in my short 10's. Seem to work very well. I don't know if the 7625 will be avaible much longer or not, rummor is that it is going to be discontinued. Carvel

Carvel been looking for some on your recommendation, none to be found it seems. If you look at relative quickness charts 7625 and Unique show up at about the same speed. Of course these charts are indicators only not good for loading data. Still close means something
Short 10 chart off our site shows right many Unique loads with 1 1/8 oz William |

I loaded some with unique and they seemed ok. I think you get a little less pressure with the 7625. I got a couple of 8 pounders of unique and green dot from Greentop a week or so ago. It looks like powder may be becoming more available now, hope so. Carvel
