Default Ithaca Lewis Grade 16

Recently picked up a really nice field grade “S” grade Lewis 16 in outstanding condition, especially for a base grade gun...suprisingly light at just over 6 lbs, and truly modern dimensions.90% blue 85% case coloring and wood 85%++..first sunny day I have a little time on my hands, I will provide some pics of the gun. Literally a neighborood garage sale find...I handed the lady $150 against her $25 asking price. Now, if I can just dig up a 69 Shelby Drag Pac Mustang from another neighbor’s barn for “if you will just haul thar old car away”...then my scavanging life will be complete!!

That sounds great, heard your other 16 gauge was lonely and was looking for a friend amongst all your larger bore guns.

Its not a tin type photo bought at a garage sale for 2 bucks type deal, that then turns out to be rare photo of Billy the kid playing croquet, but its a great buy. BTW I think the photo later sold at auction for $2.3 mil. One mans junk is another mans treasure.

No, I’m good! This gun rounded out my non parker 16 bore desires, but really impressed withthe feel of this little gun....when compared to my early smith, sterly, lefever fox and Parker, this gun truly feels the most like a 20 bore. I have always liked the look of the Lewis and Crass guns, also own a nice grade three Flues straight stock waterfowl, 3” chamber 12, that is one of my favorite guns.

I just couldnt in good conscience give this lady $25 for the “old gun”. She threw in a completely destroyed sharps falling block shotgun....and by completely destroyed, i am underdescribing the carcass of that gun!,

Don't know why I never find garage sales like that!

This may be the epitome of a "closet queen!" It's a good story when someone who knows what it really is finds a nice old gun like this. Not all good guns go to a good home to live happily ever after.

Ithaca sure could make a light gun, especially in the wonderful -- in my probably not nearly humble enough opinion (IMPNHE) -- 16 gauge.
