Default DHE Live Bird Gun

This has been my project gun this year. I got the barrels back from Giacomo's last week and I am quite pleased with the results. The barrels are 32" and both tubes choked at .40. The Parker records indicate it was returned 5/17 to have "extension" put on. I assume they mean the dollshead extension. Nothing about the big loop or trigger. It wears a big fat Silvers pad to give the LOP I need.

Very nice! Do you have the beavertail forend it should have come with?

Anybody have any idea how the frame would have been mortised to accept a doll's head if it was originally produced without one?

Both of my parkers without a doll's head have a blank fitted to the doll's head space.

Ahah!! So that's how they did it. Are they both Meriden guns? I don't recall ever hearing about any Ilion guns made without the doll's head.

So Jeff, is this how they were made - all Parker doubles were cast or mortised at the factory for a doll's head, regardless if a customer ordered one with no extension?

Dean - I think the extension was repaired. Someone probably dropped the barrels. The gun is circa 1915 before BT forends and the big loop was probably fitted later, but who knows. The trigger is a second generation Parker.

Dean,
I dug into to back of the safe to find these guns. It shows up on the 20 ga. Vh better than the Dh. 20 ga is 126522 and 12 D is 97141. The safety slot is also plugged and engraved over to hide it.

Thanks Jeff. As expected, those were very nicely done - obviously at Meriden.
