As I posted earlier. I received a better rate than the one set up for the PGCA on hotels.com. $14.00 less to be exact.

You gotta watch out for some of those third party booking sites.

My brother booked a hotel in miami through one of them only to find that they cancelled his reservation on him 2 weeks before his stay. He was never told about it. He found out when he called the hotel directly to confirm. He is still trying to get his money back. And he had to book with the hotel directly at a higher rate.

Brian... a had a bad experience with one of the “booking agencies” a few years ago, too. When my wife and I arrived at the hotel (major brand) they told me they were all sold out!! I had a confirmed reservation by the agency (that still advertises on TV) but the motel told me they could “override a third party booking service” and I should have made reservations with them directly. They sold my room to another party that arrived 20 minutes before me!! I had a very difficult time finding another room as it was the peak of vacation season in the area at the time. I have never used them again nor the popular motel chain.

Default Hampton Inn

After reading some of the bad experiences some have had with reservations with Hampton thru 3rd company agencies, I called Hampton Inn directly in Sanford to confirm my reservation. I was confirmed as I made the reservation thru Expedia. I paid more but now I know that I have a room from Tuesday thru Saturday. Don't call the international reservations # for Hampton because you will get someone that you can't understand. I spoke with a young lady in Sanford at the Sanford # (919-775-2000). I hope this helps.

Staying at the Hampton. Used Hilton points to defray some of the cost.

Thanks Gary and let us know how your experience goes and if it would work well as a new PGCA Southern headquarters.

The same goes for anyone attending the Southern who is staying in a hotel other than the Hampton. Let me know if you think you have found a good replacement. Take notes on price, comfort/cleanliness of facilities, competence/friendliness of hotel staff and convenience to Deep River.

Shoot me a pm and thanks

Dr. Bob (of the LACA) will tell you that America's Best Value Inn would NOT be the first choice. But... they DO have a pool. Kind of...

Pools at bad hotels are not selling points, in my experience
