That sounds pretty slow for the charge you are using and by the way your Remington is not designed for smokeless powder. I started with 60grs of IMR4198 and a 300gr Hornady FXT and was getting between 2450 and 2495 fps.

I know it’s not and that’s what the Chrony said as an average for three shots twelve feet from the muzzle . Perhaps the Vhrony was giving false readings I dunno . I also chronographed 225 and 200 grainers with the same powder charges and velocity lessened . Which I thought awful strange at the time .

My favorite deer hunting is muzzle loader season here in Maine. Last part of the season when almost no one is in the woods and usually snow on the ground to track. I almost bought a smokeless muzzle loader as I would love to try one. This one is very cool! Could not justify it for here in Maine though as the chance for a shot at a range beyond my Encore is extremely slight. I use the Blackhorn 209 powder which cleans up just like smokeless. You can shoot many shots and never have to clean it till you put it away. Has a little better velocity that other powders but not to the smokeless level. Very accurate in my guns and 200 yard shots are quite doable. I would bet the average shots at deer here in Maine are well under 100 yards though. Might still have to get a smokeless one though just to play with....they intrigue me...

The Remington I use now is pretty heavy although not as much as yours . But certainly a good bit heavier then the Savage 10ML-II .

I keep a ledger/journal of my deer kills distance gun scope cartridge load time of day etc etc . Anyway I’m well over 300 and low and behold the average of all the deer I’ve plunked is about 42 yards . My pop used to tell me “you could kill just about every deer you’ve taken with a 30-30”
