Default Virginia Snow

As I pulled into Rose Hill on Sunday, the first flakes began to fall. It soon turned into heavy snow which lasted throughout the afternoon. “Krieghoff” was on fire, pointing and generally having a blast, big ears flopping as he ran. The Trojan 20 was not yet ready so the Jules Pierre 16 hammer gun got the call. A Christmas gift package of RST shells arrived on Saturday and were put to good use. Overall, a fantastic day afield.

More Quail than I shot there in the 29 years I lived in Virginia!! We did have good Quail hunting in Southern Maryland and on the Eastern Shore in the late 1970s and early 1980s.

We sure did have some great Quail hunting back then Dave. Dorchester and Wicomico counties had some spots where we could put up 3-4 good size covies per farm in a couple hour hunt. Not now

Rose Hill is very nice, really well run. I’ve been hunting there for a few years. Interesting about quail, I grew up hunting wild quail in NJ in the 1980s. There was a former county park that became overgrown. I don’t recall how we discovered it, but sure enough there were lots of bobwhite quail. No one else hunted there. We had it to ourselves and had a ball. I have no idea how the quail got there or how the population was sustained, but it was great fun for several years. Good memories with my father and friends.
