Default Rubber butt option on Repros??

We discussed this a couple of years ago, but I don't recall that we ever came to a definitive answer as to whether or not any Parker Reproductions were furnished with a butt plate other than a skeleton butt. As you can see from the above pic of the end cap label of an original Parker Repro box that there were two options listed for the butt plate--skeleton or rubber. Did rubber mean hard rubber like a DHBP or a rubber recoil pad? I recall a Parker Repro listed on one of the auction sites being offered with a DHBP and also recall a poster claiming the hard rubber butt plate being listed as an option in one of the Repro brochures. I have, what I believe, a complete collection of all Repro brochures and it isn't listed in any of them...perhaps that we now have Mr. Skeuse aboard he can clear this up for us.

I have never seen anything in any of the literature that I have that would indicate that this was an option. I do recall a 28ga on an auction site with a DHBP that looked really well done. There is a 12ga on GI right now with a pad being offered for $2800. I very much doubt its original but everything else looks pretty good especially for that price.

Default Rubber pad

We did not offer a rubber butt on the Repros. There were customers that put them on but we did not do that work

Thank you for the reply Richard. One of my five Repros, a SCC model has a Decelerator Sporting Clays pad installed--I certainly would have preferred that whomever previously owned it hadn't installed it, but it is what it is.

Additionally and on behalf of all Parker Reproduction owners...thank you very very much for bringing these wonderful guns to the marketplace!

What an organization we must be to have Mr. Skeuse as a forum poster. Welcome to you, sir. I hope we don't run you off with questions.

Dave, that gun is/was part of a 2-bbl. set. Wonder what became of the #1 set of bbls. and its case?

This one is not an original - I know because I installed it a few weeks ago. It is an old Noshoc pad a fellow sent to me for free. It has a couple of cracks in the baseplate at the heel so I had to drill and use a couple of extra screws. I'll use some black epoxy to fill the cracks, smooth it over and I'm sure it will pass muster pretty well.
I bought this extra Repro stock from Ralph English a while back to fit to Kathy's 28 ga. Repro skeet gun. The wood has swelled a bit in this wet New England weather these past couple of months but I'm sure I can shrink it enough before fitting it to the gun.

Oh, by the way, I had the shield engraved with Kathy's initials just like Jessie Bishop's little 28 ga DHE was from her husband in 1908. I sent this photo of Jessie's to the engraver along with the Repro buttstock. I hope she likes it.

Dave, Greg,

That is actually part of a three barrel set, and no the pad isn't original. It's pretty though to move them without the ssbp, even that cheap.
