AHFCA BO-WHOOP COMPETITION FOR 2011

This is a long range shotgun competition sponsored by the A H Fox Collectors Association Inc., and held in conjunction with the Great NE Classic S x S event at Hidden Hollow Sporting Clays, Friendsville PA. Dates are June 3 - 5, 2011. The competition is named, after Nash Buckingham's legendary HE Grade Super Fox
"Bo-Whoop", that to this day, remains one of the most legendary, long-range,
side by sides in existence. 2011 marks our fourth year, running this exciting & challenging side event.

FOR 2011:
• ANY make S x S shotgun may be used (Fox, Parker, LCS, Lefever, Winchester, etc.)
• 10 gauge guns may be used – 1-1/4 ounce max shot charge for any gauge
• Shoot for score as many times as you want!
• Practice shooting available at reduced cost
• Bo-Whoop Trophy awarded for highest score shot with A H Fox designed shotgun
• 70% Purse payout for (2) highest scores/any gun = 40% 1st place & 30% 2nd place
• 30% Purse payout to (3) “Loony Lewis” winners (10% to each of 3 shooters)
• NO “shoot offs” for tied high scores, no need to be available on Sunday as in the past

Shooting Guidelines:
1. Competition is open to anyone. You don’t have to be a member of the A H Fox Collectors Association. Signups will take place at the Great Northeast Side X Side Classic. No pre-entry is necessary.

2. The target presentation will be appropriate for tightly choked guns intended for water fowling and long range shooting.

3. ANY Side X Side shotgun 10-gauge or smaller may be used. Largest shot size allowed is 7-1/2 shot. Maximum shot charge is 1-1/4 ounces. Coppered shot may be used. The AHFCA reserves the right to inspect all cartridges used to verify shot size and charge weight - a precision digital scale will be used for this purpose. Any shooter found in variance for score shooting will be disqualified.

4. SCORE SHOOTERS: Each entry fee of $20.00 entitles the competitor to shoot 10 cartridges for score at a round of five SIMULTANEOUS pairs of targets (also known as “true pairs”) = 10 targets. Competitors may enter more than once. $5.00 from each Score entry fee ($20.00) will be allocated for Purse payouts. 100% of allocated funds will be paid out - see details below. Shooting for score starts on Friday June 3rd and ends promptly at 4:30 pm on Saturday, June 4th.

5. PRACTICE SHOOTERS: Practice shooting (reduced cost) is encouraged. The menu for practice shooting will be three REPORT pairs and two SIMO pairs = 10 targets. Entry fee for practice shooting is $10.00 per round. Practice shooters will be eligible to win one of three prizes, based on 3 highest scores achieved.

6. All shooting will be witnessed by a Director or designee of the A. H. Fox Collectors Association Inc., and the shooter’s score will be recorded on our official event scorecard. Targets will be judged as “broken” or “dead” in the order shot, as per NSCA rules – minimum of a visible chip – dust does not count as a visible chip. One shot may be fired at each target of the pair, or both shots at one of the targets. The ruling “broken/lost” by the A. H. Fox Collector Association official is FINAL. Nothing is established if one of the two simo targets is damaged coming off the trap – the pair will be repeated.

7. NO pre-mounted guns! Gun butt may be raised above the shooter’s waist before calling for the birds, but gun butt cannot be in the shoulder pocket.

8. Our Bo-Whoop Trophy recognizes Excellence in Long Range Shooting. Trophy will be awarded to the shooter with the highest score that was shot with a genuine Ansley H Fox designed shotgun (Philadelphia Arms, Philly, Savage or CSMC). Fox Model “B” or clones do not qualify. Tied highest score will be decided by: Forward Long Run. If score is still tied, by: Reverse Long Run (if applicable). If score is still tied, by: public draw of name. The 2011 Winner will be recognized with an engraved plaque on the trophy. Ownership of the perpetual Bo-Whoop Trophy will remain with the AHFCA. Practice shooters do not qualify for this award.

9. Purse payouts for the two highest scores shot with any S x S gun will be 40% of the allocated Purse for FIRST place, and 30% for SECOND place. Tied highest score will be decided by: Forward Long Run. If score is still tied, by: Reverse Long Run (if applicable). If score is still tied, by: public draw of names. The First place winner cannot win Second place Purse even with two or more highest scores. Practice shooters do not qualify for Purse payouts but this year, will be eligible to win one of three prizes.

10. Loony Lewis payouts will total 30% of the allocated Purse. Three winners will be named by a public draw from the six shooters achieving the THIRD through EIGHTH highest scores shot with any S x S gun. Payouts are 10% to each of the three names drawn. No shooter may be awarded more than one Loony Lewis payout! Practice shooters do not qualify for the Loony Lewis purses.

11. NSCA Rules will be used insofar as possible for anything not specifically noted herein. The AHFCA reserves the right to make any changes necessary to these guidelines at any time due to unanticipated circumstances or field conditions.
