Default California SXS Society 2017 Schedule of Events

For those on the West Coast, California in particular, I just received this email.

CALIFORNIA SIDE-BY-SIDE SOCIETY'S

Happy New Year! Here’s your first 2017 update.

Dear SxS Enthusiasts:

STATE NEWS:
The Board of Directors met on Jan. 7th and we’re delighted to announce that the new year has brought us a new State President: Mr. David Slade. Dave is a great guy, a member of the California SxS Hall of Fame, and also the Chairman of the NorCal Chapter. Please join us in welcoming Dave to his new role as State President, and be sure to lend a hand as he works to promote our society. And our thanks to outgoing leader, Bob Mills, for his efforts over the past few years.

Dave’s team of officers includes Phil Fayne, who continues as State VP, and Robert Szerwo, who continues as State Treasurer. And they’re all supported by IT wizard Dave Barks, who manages the website and digital communications. Please remember to thank these folks for their dedicated and unpaid service -- we wouldn’t have a club without them.

Richard Edlund will be handling and picking the themes for the exhibits at the Side by Side events. No one is more qualified. Richard will also be writing, what I am sure will be the most interesting articles on SxS’s to be published on our website.

We are planning on having a member’s only classified section on the web page. This should assist members in finding the missing parts in their collections. There will be rules of procedure regarding this classified section. This will be a great way for members to keep in contact with each other.

The 2017 California State Side By Side Championship & Exhibition -- our State Shoot -- is scheduled for March 30-April 2 at the Sun Mountain Gun Club in Coarsegold, CA. This is our big statewide event of the year, and it’s a blast – be sure to join the fun! We will have many events and gun displays for you to do and see. The details are being worked out and the information will be forthcoming. You must be a member in good standing in order to participate.

NORCAL NEWS:

After many years of outstanding service, Larry Shelton retired as NorCal Chairman in 2016. Dave Slade has succeeded Larry as NorCal Chairman, but Larry continues to be an important part of our society. Larry, many thanks for your decades of support, and for your continuing help. A schedule of events for the NorCal chapter is attached. Dave is in need of a few members who would like to assist on the committee to help with the shoots. If you can help out in these areas, please contact Dave.

SOCAL NEWS:

The SoCal Chapter is seeing changes, too. The leadership team of Shorty Colasanto, Phil Fayne and Hank Cook has reached the end of its term, and we thank them for their years of great work. SoCal will be trying a different shoot program in 2017: Instead of rotating shoots from club to club, we’ll be shooting on the second Saturday of every month (EXCEPT January and April) at Triple B Clays. The “Second Saturday Side By Side Shoots at Triple B” will happen on Feb. 11, March 11, May 13, June 10, July 8, Aug. 12, Sept. 9, Oct. 14, Nov. 11 and Dec. 9. Although the location will always be the same, the shooting events will change from month to month: in February 11, the game will be Sporting Clays – 100 targets (or 50 target option).

We are in need of a SoCal Committee Chairman and a few volunteers to assist with the above shoots. If you can help out in this area, please contact Phil. With the right volunteers, we can have this Society humming.
