IMHO I doubt it brings the opening bid ,but then again look at what that AIS 20ga went for at Julia last year.

Original guns have their colors worn more quickly because of so many more 'edges'.

So, what's with the two different numbers on the barrel flats? 114 and 115?? And the serial number on the table has a 7 overstamped with an 8. That seems pretty odd for a gun of that grade.

Whitworth tubes are individually serialized. The listing makes mention of the restamping of the SN.

I'm surprised you would say that. I think it's a lovely gun, and while it's not of the quality of last year's A1S, it's still pretty nice. I see Julia's is boasting another 20ga. A1S for this fall. I don't give a lot of thought who the buyers are of these high value pieces, but I do wonder about the owners. We're they cherished family heirlooms, or just up in the attic gathering dust since gramps died. I have these same daydreams when I'm out driving through "old money" towns; how many valuable firearms have I just driven by.

I keep hoping that maybe, just maybe, the next garage sale I stop at is going to have a dusty Leg O Mutton case with a C/B/A grade in it.. Don't see that happening.

Don't lose hope... They are still out there, and you, or I, or anyone reading this, just might be the next very lucky finder. I know... I've been very lucky on a few occasions - but nothing higher than a B so far.

I think I will stay off the roads while Edger is driving around day dreaming.

Taking Edgar's comment about a recased AAHE, maybe the gun in question will look like Robin's gun in a few months. Stay tuned.
