Default Gwinn Michigan/Grouse

This will be the first trip to the UP in hopes of getting the dogs on grouse and will be staying in the Gwinn area. If anyone has any intel about this area they would like to share it sure would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I have hunted that area when I lived in Marquette. There is a lot of area to hunt. Get some maps from the DNR (Dept of Nat Resources) that show the logging operations and old clear cuts.

I hunt about 45-60 min west of Gwinn, but know many people who have stayed/hunted the Gwinn area and do quite well. I am hunting Iron,Dickinson, and Marquette counties. I also use Google Earth as a great scouting tool. Good luck Matt

Matt, I will PM you my cell phone #, call me and we can talk--best to call after 9:00.
I have been hunting the UP with great sucess since 1986, and this is looking to be another good year. I will tell you what I look for in covers--they look nothing like our Ohio coverts, plus just be good to talk to you again. What kind of dogs do you have now?
