Default new match @ Southern SxS

I'm sure I read the rules on the 16 gauge and soon to be 16-20 match @ the Southern; however, I don't remember ...are Parker reproductions allowed in this event? Jim Garrett

Default new 16/20ga event @ Southern

John, since the reproduction Parkers are allowable in the new event I finally found and acquired a 2 bbl set to shoot in said event. I promise I will practice enough that I won't embarrass the Parker team. I also have a new set of eyes...lense emplant in both eyes and I am reading on the 20/15 line of the eye chart! I won't be able to make Rick's shoot in SC but I'll see you in Sanford in April 2018. Jim Garrett

a point of clarification. There are two Southerns, both run by Rick Hemmingway and Bill Kempher . If I am correct this event is only at the Spring Southern not the upcoming Fall Southern at the end of October.

I know it sounds like sacrilege but could you shoot a 12 ga Parker with 20 gage Briley tubes if that is all one has ? A purest I am not but do respect the purist in their pursuit of originality. My Parker has very pitted barrels I do want to keep it original a Hammer #2 top break made in 1885. So it is the most affordable way to enjoy the gun and still not molest it for me to shoot it.

John
The event rules do not allow you to shoot a 12ga gun with inserts in any subgage event. You could shoot it in any of the open events or in any 12 ga event though. I would love to see you come , meet the Parker crew, and enjoy your gun.

A suggestion is to locate a replacement barrel for your gun.
I do no think that would be difficult or prohibitive expencive. Try Dave Fjelline, Tom Carter or Brian Dudley.
I purchased one for a lifter from Brian for $350?

What if I find a 12g Parker with bad bores and have Briley install a set of permanent 20g tubes? That would keep an old warhorse in the game? Would that work for the Challenge event?

The challenge event is an open gage event. I shoot it with a D grade 20ga hammer gun so I do not see a any issue
