Russ Bickel and I had a plan to recreate the Super Fox loads just for fun, but he passed away before we got the job done.

I've still got the 50 pounds of #4 Lubaloy shot we planned to do it with.

I suppose I should sell that to somebody who is going to eventually use it.

Destry, where would you find enough paper 3" Western empties to perform this feat? If I find any, I will let you know.

Russ had an excellent recipe for a 1/38 ounce load that would fit into a 2 3/4 case. I had a source for cases at the time, high brass with red paper.

i wonder what range the super fox was shooting that 80 percent pattern...i expect it was 40 yards 30 inch circle i wonder if the 3 inch shell was loaded with 1 5/8 ounce load....charlie

The 12-gauge 3-inch Super-X load at the time of those advertisements was 1 3/8 ounce. The 1 5/8 ounce 12-gauge 3-inch Magnum load was introduced in 1935 along with the Winchester Model 12 Heavy Duck.
