Default New Member from LI NY.

Happy to be here and looking forward to learning more about my grandfathers Parker Brothers 20 gauge double barrel side by side. It's in grave condition at this time. Trying my hand at freeing up some rust, gently of course. S# 236511 1934 production. As of now one barrel has a hole rusted right through. Possible search for a replacement, Thanks and looking forward to any input.

That's pretty sad... Good thing it isn't a high grade gun... VH 12 30

Wow on the condition. Usually when late production guns such as yours are encountered, they are in overall very good condition. Yours must have been hunted hard and neglected terribly.

Welcome.

Sounds like a forgotten saltwater duck gun.

My Grandfather passed in 1976, I was 13 at the time. Grandmother gave me his upland hunting gear except there was no firearm, just clothing. After all these years my cousin contacts me in regards to this shotgun. Apparently my Great uncle was in possession until he passed 19 years ago. My cousin inherited his home and stored 3 shotguns in the attic of the garage, go figure!!. Anyway, she lives in Brooklyn and finally gave up the house on the water. All this time they were stored in soft cases enduring hot and cold temps. While packing the house up she came across the guns. She remembered the Parker was my Grandfathers. Needless to say she was extremely upset and gave me the shotguns. I was very upset myself but I am passed that and on a mission to restore them as much as I can. It's sentimental at this time but you never know what could come of it.

That is one of the saddest stories I've heard about family heirloom Parkers.

I am a Hunter myself, Big Game and Waterfowl, as well as a firearms collector. I have had the opportunity and pleasure in owning a large assortment of Firearms. This however is a heartbreak to say the least, but as I've said it's given me time to reflect on my Grandfather.

My Grandfather's E Grade Lefever pigeon gun was left to my uncle when Granddad died in 1929. My uncle also lived in Brooklyn and never hunted while he had the gun. About 1956, when I was eleven years old, my uncle sent me the Lefever. It was clean as a pin and looked probably like it looked in 1929. Please post the pictures of your Parker.
