Default SoDak Winter Weather

A few of us went on our yearly trip to central SoDak back to the farm. All wild birds and can be tough hunting. Cold , but we postponed travel until the temps warmed slightly then went, and it was cold and blustery when we left.

There was Wayne Schweigert, Charlie Herzog, Pete Kappes, Dave Weber, Tom Wooden and me.

We had a tragic experience with one of our group getting hit by an errant shotgun pellet. He hit our esteemed turnip farmer, and while it is not possible to get blood from a turnip, it is from a turnip farmer. He reported the pain was excruciating and he was able to get enough blood out to create a good photo for the personal injury lawyer that was consulted. He also called Rev. Al Sharpton, his pastor just in case he needed last rites.

Sue made wonderful pie as usual and that helped some, but our turnip farmer was unable to drive on the way home and needed help carrying his bags.

Thanks for the pictures Bruce. I talked with the turnip farmer a few minutes ago and he made no mention that you had shot him... He's quite the gentleman but I think we can expect a duel at ten paces to result from this mishap.

There doesn't appear to be an exit wound - does this mean he will have to undergo surgery?.... can't be too careful - lead poisoning is slow... but it might require a few more pellets to complete the job.

I didn't shoot him. In fact, I rescued him. He stuck his new Ford pickup in a snowbank and I pulled him out with my rusty 20 year old Suburban. If I hadn't, he might still be there.

Bruce: Thanks for the photos. They are always enjoyable. Are you sure Dick Cheney was not hunting nearby? Bob

Default And a Double to boot!

Bruce was to modest to mention that the second picture is of him after shooting a true "double". It was fantastic shooting that we all witnessed.

The video of the 20 year old rusty Suburban pulling out the new Ford has been confiscated by the turnip farmer is no longer available for public viewing.

Thanks Dave. One of those birds had a 34 bar main tailfeather. Until then, my longest had been a 32, so I am having Jason do a tailfeather mount. Those birds were a 30 and a 34. Nice wild birds.

Probably "Self Inflicted". However, a good attorney can turn all that around. Do we know a "Good Attorney"?

I woulda thought that mere shotgun pellets would just ricochet off the likes of our favorite turnip farmer... or just flatten upon impact! Sorry I had to miss this hunt.
