Thank you Charlie. If you're ever up this way in October let's get together and "smoke" some wild turkeys. My home state of Maine is a hunters dream for fall turkey: incredible scenery, abundant birds and almost unlimited ground open to hunting. We hunt over thirty western Maine towns. Add to that an old Parker and a young dog adept at the Appalachian art of turkey doggin', what more could one want!

TL, I've never heard of "Turkey Doggin". I'm assuming you are using dogs in some fashion to hunt the birds. I would like to know more. Sounds intriguing

Beautiful photo! I wish we had a fall season down here. I have been turkey hunting in Ohio in the Fall and it was spectacular.

Mike, I see you enjoy the spring gobbler duels. The fall hunt uses dogs to find, scatter, bark on the flush and reunite with the hunters at the scatter site. Fall flock members are then called back together to the dog and gun. My GSP Gunny is a wide runner with a great voice. At three years old, he waits patiently and quietly most of the time. Most fall hunts allow the harvest of either sex. Gunny is also used on grouse and woodcock along with waterfowl, he seems to know the quarry based on the habitat we're in.

Thanks Charlie. Three New Brunswick rookie turkey hunters with GSP Gunny and fellow Tenth Legion guide Robb Cotiaux. Wish I knew how to attach more than one photo at a time:-)

Thanks Jim for the info. We have a fall season here in KY where much the sams strategy is used except I don't know if dogs are permitted. We walk up and scatter the flock and call them back. That's a good looking hunting party you got there.
