Default Colorado Sharptailed Grouse

Had a nice weekend in the grouse woods of Colorado. My 16 month old setter Cinder is coming along very nicely. We found some birds even though it was smokey from the fires out here and it was 90 degrees in the afternoons. Nothing finer than chasing bird dogs and grouse.

Nice pics Shawn, looks like Cinder has the hang it of for now. Sharptails are the top bird on my avian bucket list. What's the gun?

Now if I could get her to point and hold a covey but she's learning and I'm very pleased. The gun is a 1910 Ithaca Flues grade 4 12 bore

Shawn, you are killing me with jealousy. It will be about a month before I hit the great north woods, and I cant wait. Keep those pictures coming.
I may have found a serious buyer for my grade 3 Ithaca 12 ga yesterday, but I am holding on to my grade 4 16.
In the mean time, Iam keeping busy with my 2 pups 'Doodle and Willow(Willie)
Yes, I was crazy to keep 2 pups from this summers litter, and man are they keeping me busy. I now have 4 female setters. Hope it cools down for you soon. My younger brother Dale, also a veterinarian, has been hiking and camping in Idaho and Montana for the past 2 weeks and has mentioned all the smoke from the pararie and forest fires.
Shoot straight

Harold sounds like a fun summer to me. I wish I had 4 setters...but can't convince my wife on that one...I've tried!

Went back out yesterday...found a few birds. Carried my new to me Ithaca NID 10 bore for the first time. Saw several sharpies , got stung by a big ol mean bee, about stepped off a fence onto a prairie rattler, got soaked to the bone from afternoon thunder showers and drove 460 miles round trip...great day!
