Default 16 gauge load

Rummaging around this morning through some old reloading manuals, I found an Alliant one from 2002.
It had a 16 gauge load listed using 15.5 grains of Red Dot...Fiocchi primer...WAA 16 wad...and 1 ounce of shot. The velocity was 1090 fps, and the pressure was 10,600 psi.
I made some reductions, and used 12 grains of Red Dot with 7/8 ounces of shot in a Cheddite hull. The recoil was mild and the load burned very clean. The velocity probably dropped to around 1000 fps, and I believe the pressure to be around 8,000 to 8,500 psi.
Has anyone tried a similar load, and/or had such a load tested for actual velocity and pressure?
