"Antiquing" a Silvers Pad

Default "Antiquing" a Silvers Pad

Has anyone followed the process recommended by CVSM? (see below)

"Our correct period pad is the exact color of the pre-war silver’s pad. When they are finished in the described manner, they are undetectable from the original pre-war pad. We have spent a lot of time developing the correct color for this pad.

1. After installation of the pad, buff it with Vaseline to add a sheen
2. Coat it with varnish, tru-oil, and shellac and let dry. This will preserve the sheen."

So I am supposed to apply vasoline, varnish, tru-oil AND shellac?
